If something's missing here, ask directly — we'd rather answer than have you guess.
Those apps are either watering-schedule tools or generic chatbots wrapped around plants. PlantAdvocate's care advice is always grounded in a curated species database first — every recommendation traces to a verified care fact for your plant's species, combined with its real history, not generated from scratch. We also keep a real longitudinal history of each plant, which most competitors don't surface well.
The curated species database is the single source of truth for care facts, drawn from authoritative botanical sources. Recommendations come from reasoning over your plant's own record and history and explaining it in plain language — the system isn't allowed to introduce care facts that aren't already verified in the database.
PlantAdvocate will tell you honestly rather than guess. We're continually expanding species coverage, and you can flag a missing species to help us prioritize.
Your plant inventory and care history are yours. We don't sell plant or care data to third parties. Full details are in our privacy policy.
PlantAdvocate is purpose-built for indoor houseplants right now — that focus is what lets the species database and advice stay precise. Outdoor/garden support isn't currently on the roadmap.
The free Sprout plan covers full plant inventory, care logging, reminders, and species-grounded basics indefinitely — not a trial. See the Pricing page for exactly what's included.
PlantAdvocate is in active development, with the core care engine and species database already built. Join the beta list and you'll be among the first invited as new capabilities roll out.
